"From Zushi, from Nasu, from Yoyogi"
10.10 SAT — 10.11 SUN
13:00 — 19:00
groundfloor Gallery, Nakameguro
"to UNDECORATED," a gallery-style lifestyle project curated by UNDECORATED, will host a joint exhibition titled "From Zushi, From Nasu, From Yoyogi" at groundfloor Gallery for two days on Saturday, October 10th and Sunday, October 11th.
Zushi, Nasu, and Yoyogi.
This exhibition brings together three people who live and work in these different locations to share their craftsmanship and ways of living.
This time, we are focusing on "whole," a flower business based in Yoyogi.
From what inspired them to open their shop, to what they value in delivering flowers to customers, the relationship with their daily wardrobe, and the connections with people born through their activities—we unravel what they deliver through flowers and the time behind them, using whole's own words.
01|What was the inspiration behind starting your shop?
When I was looking for a new personal challenge, a bouquet I received from my husband sparked my interest in flowers. It was a time when I was looking to start something different from what I had done before, and as I spent more time with flowers, my interest gradually deepened. That led me to start my own shop.

02|Is there anything you value specifically when delivering flowers to your customers?
I value creating expressions that feel like "whole" while staying close to the purpose, scene, and image our customers have in mind.
Because the reason for gifting flowers and the image each person has in their mind are different for everyone, my priority is to be attentive to that first. On top of that, I hope to provide an expression that only whole can offer.

03|Please tell us about the relationship between your work and your clothes. What kind of clothes do you usually choose?
I enjoy fashion that suits me, depending on whether I'm working at the shop or out on-site doing floral arrangements. In terms of color, there are very few blue flowers, so I naturally end up choosing light blue clothes. Perhaps I am influenced by flowers more than I realize.

04|Is there anything you feel or cherish daily in your work with flowers?
I believe that the meaning and role of flowers change depending on the recipient and the scene.
That is why I treasure facing each order one by one, imagining the feelings of the person giving the flowers and the place where they will be displayed. I think layering our own unique expressions through that process is what leads to the "whole" identity.

05|At "to UNDECORATED," we hope to create a place where communities meet and new connections are born. Is there anything you value regarding connections with people in your own activities?
I especially value the connections I have built throughout my life, from friends from my student days to seniors and colleagues from my previous jobs, as well as the customers and business partners I have met through my current shop.
I have been supported by so many people in my activities thus far.
Ms. Chiba and Ms. Suzuki, who I am joining this time, are two such people who are very important to me.
I see this event as a joy because it's a place where these existing connections can overlap in a new way.

06|Finally, do you have a message for those looking forward to this event?
With the sweltering summer over, it is finally the season to fully enjoy flowers. We will be offering a special selection of autumn flowers, which carry a somewhat nostalgic and rich atmosphere, curated by whole.
We would be delighted if you could come and experience these autumn flowers at the venue.

whole accompanies daily life and various scenes through flowers.
While facing the purpose and image of each individual, we propose flowers with a unique sensibility that is "whole." We are active in a wide range of areas, including retail sales at our shop and on-site floral decorations.
